Best Nights Rest

We all "know" sleep is important....  SO many of us struggle with sleep.  Me included!

My mom always joked that I was like the princess and the pea, that even though she had 9 mattresses of padding she could still feel the pea at the bottom.  Although as a child I didn't like how my mom would tell me I was so high maintenance all the time.  Its true, and now I take full ownership of it.

I need the room to be cold, have a fan going, white noise, be fully hydrated, have gotten sun during the day, and exercise out doors, have moved my life forward in some way that matters to me that day, be happy about my life direction, prayed, be sleeping/waking at a fairly consistent time.... lol.  Anybody else???

My list of what I need to sleep well is pretty long, and not very negotiable.  I know I am high maintenance...  But lately I have been on a good sleeping streak.  I am SO grateful for this!

My most recent sleep upgrade that I decided to try was an organic mattress and organic sheets.  I love these sheets!  They are so soft.  I just ordered my second pair from the same company because I loved them that much.  And I thought the price was a competitive price.

Check out California Design Den for really delicious sheets.  I hope it helps you sleep better too!

I got the 600 thread count.  Very happy with this product.  And yes I am high maintenance about the products I consume.  Going to the next level with my bedding is something I am happy about that I believe contributes to my overall health, though I would probably never be able to prove it.

Then!  At check out, I decided to type in "discount to California..." and to my surprise discount codes did come up.  I have heard about this, but it was the first time I tried.  I enjoyed an extra 10% off just for doing a search.  Thought I'd share, hopefully you'll also get an extra discount!

Sleep hacks
Start experimenting AND tracking what you do to see what improves your sleep.
Generally I pick three things to pay attention to.  If you have a wearable, then that will make it even easier.  I don't...

I asses how I feel in the morning
How I feel overall throughout the day
And how many times I woke up during the night.

But you pick what will work for you.  It is hard work to sleep hack or bio hack.  I recommend tracking it.

Start with what is easy for you or cheap.

Personally I would start with hydration, focusing on getting to maximum hydration earlier in the day.  If drinking enough water is hard for you, mix it up, with lemon water non carinated tea, ect...

Then get natural sunlight,  and or work out out side.

Take action towards your dreams.  You can do something everyday.  I know lots of us are very busy, but there are still things that you could squeeze into your day.  If the idea of this feels overwhelming, set up a free chat with me, and we'll come up with an action plan that works for you.

From there look at your own life, what would be easy to modify or try out for a week.  There are so many sleep experts, and great books about sleep.

And if you are already looking for new sheets, try out these organic ones

Would you like even deeper fulfillment?

Hello!
I hope you are doing well
I know I am so excited that the weather is getting warmer, and it's much more enjoyable to spend way more time outside!  (Time outdoors is a critical component for me to recharge and fill up my own energy, like doing pushups!)

I wanted to let you know about my upcoming events!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The next series of Art of My Presence is coming up!
Monday June 6th 3:00 pm PST
fulfilledandabundant.com/presence

---------------------------------------------------------------
The first class is always free.  It's a powerful and very fun class.  Many people have even manifested something they were wanting just from the first class  and everyone feels better afterwards, weather they came in crying and then felt calm and peace, or came in happy and then felt raised up even higher.
This class is perfect for anyone, no matter where you are emotionally, or how advanced you are (or not) energetically.  And appropriate for anyone 14 years and older.  Yes, boys are very welcome, although generally women are much more attracted to this work.

Those that have been with me for a long time are enjoying some very powerful and restorative integration.  It's amazing, and magical to witness each of my clients manifest, up level, and become more solid in their foundation = their lives are getting better.
----------------------------------------
The theme for this upcoming series beginning June 6th, is Joy, Risk and Fulfillment
I know, it looks like a weird theme.  During our 6 week class we will focus on Joy and Fulfillment, outside of class I am going to encourage you to take some risks!
Risk is a key element to our expansion in Joy and Fulfillment.  Can you think of a time you took a huge risk, to thankfully achieve it, and then feel that ecstatic elation afterwards?  And sometimes even moving 1 inch closer towards risk causes so much anxiety that you are in a sense debilitated?  Focusing on increasing your joy and fulfillment intentionally is KEY to strengthening you to be able to take that risk.  I am not talking about reckless risk.  I am talking about that thing you have been wanting for a long time but the things you have to do to get there are scary.
Maybe its a difficult conversation - so that you can arrive and deeper connection and understanding?  Maybe its being vulnerable and authentic with that really sexy potential partner?  Maybe its being way more public or social media or anywhere else - so that you can grow your business or client base?  Maybe its changing your business services that you know would do you a lot of good, but you are scared to go forward?  Maybe its quitting your job to start your own business?...
We all have that thing and it is scary.  Its scary because their is potential for failure, whether its encountering trolls, the conversation blowing up, or your business not actually being successful by the time you really needed it to be…  Rejection in any form is terrifying to almost everybody.  Those very few who appear to not be afraid of rejection, are either really good at pivoting or reframing the experience.  And that is where focusing on Joy and Fulfillment comes in!  It supports you to pivot faster, and reframe the experience with a little more ease.
This series there will be a little more accountability and connection with the other classmates than previous classes.  I think this will be more fun.  But I’ll also be holding you to the fire a tiny bit more ;)  Don’t worry, I am included in this!  We’re all in this together, and so you’ll also see my vulnerabilities, as we all up level together.
For 6 weeks you’ll have a team rooting you on in both your expansion in Joy and Fulfillment, as well as going for those risks!  That in itself is already a win <3
-------------------------------------------
I invite you to try the free class to experience what this kind of work can do for you.

Bonus: there is a beautiful downloadable phone wallpaper that is my free gift to you at the bottom of this web page for you to enjoy and start your intentional up leveling process right now.

Early Mother's Day Celebration!

3/18/2022

I know... Mother's day is still two months away... But May is one of the busiest months for me.  I usually take a week off, just to accommodate all the social things! Plus mother's day...  And I am more of an introvert, so having a lot of social things on my calendar, as fun as it all is, its a little bit depleting.  I have always wanted to celebrate mother's day with some kind of promotion, and I now have the perfect gift to give!  Two lucky mom's will get to enjoy this awesome gift before and after mother's day.
I invite you to check out the Make Space for Your Best Life Weekend Workshop.

My passion for interior design and home organizing was actually borne when I was 16, and painted my room this gorgeous, glowing cantaloupe orange.  I knew nothing about color therapy, except that intuitively I noticed that blue increase my depression, and orange relieved my depression, by a lot.  Because of my personality type, and intuitive sensitivities, I really loved getting into the nitty gritty of making everything - every inch - gorgeous.  Any Enneagram's 4's out there?

My learning in this area never stopped, I loved Feng Shui, energy work, and my degree in interior design.  Once I professionally became and organizer I have done a free session with my mom every year.  She enjoys my perfectionism now ;)

And now I am bringing my gifts to you!  Most people gloss over the details, they think it doesn't matter, and in doing that they also gloss over the problem areas, that accumulate, and lump it into it doesn't matter.  People usually only call me when they can't stand it anymore.  How about we change that?  I have noticed that when it comes to the home, in general there is a good amount of shame that they haven't been able to figure it out already.  But, its not about shame.  Shame many times - not always - is what causes people to try to do it on their own, and then shame is also what brings them to call me, or another organizer (not always).

I am sharing this because I want you or anybody else to see that other people feel the same shame that you might feel about your home, AND other people do not project the judgment that you are likely envisioning onto your home.  They have some area in their home that is equally bad! lol

I have always been obsessed with healing, in every sense.  The home is an amazing healing tool.  Equally as powerful as eating your vegetables, or seeing the right therapist.  And the way that I help people organize and decorate, is so communicative of their personality, and functional for their life, that healing happens.

Who you are is a work of art, and I help you to put it into color, art, the right things, and the right system for your house.  Its a very fun process, and yes, it does take a bit more time and money that just bulldozing and getting it done.  But you know what, "bulldozing and getting it done" is actually ineffective because you didn't take time to think about the way you think, the way your life flows, what nourishes you , and makes you glow, so you don't maintain the results.

When you have an area where every single inch is beautiful, represents your personality, and is maximized to work for you, magic happens.  Healing occurs, things manifest.  Its amazing, and really really fun.  I love seeing it, and I love helping others achieve this.  I have given my gift to my mom many times, and its always so fun to witness the healing happen for her, and for things to manifest for her.  She worked so incredibly hard as a single mother, and growing up she put herself last.  As I think most mom's do - to make sure their child has the best.

But... when you constantly put yourself last, you are depleted.  A depleted mom (or anyone) just cannot give their best.  So I want to help you single mom's out.  I know all mom's and women deserve to have a space they love, but my mom was single, and so I want to help others in a way that hits even closer to home.

I invite you to check out the Make Space for Your Best Life Weekend Workshop.  During this weekend workshop we will do some inspired organizing, we will all focus on the same area of the home, and organize together on line.  You'll get inspiration from others, tailored suggestions from me, visible progress, private coaching, released emotional/energy blocks, and a personalized road map when the weekend is over.  This road map is so that you can continue the hard work and progress on your own.  So many times when working together with someone, once the work is over, then you are left hanging after a while.  I do not want that.  I want you to feel clear, empowered and motivated to continue the work on your own.  And one lucky single mom will get to enjoy the workshop for free in April or June.  I'm sorry, you can only win one workshop, but if you don't win in April you'll automatically be entered to win in June!

Better and Better

9/14/2021

Hello!

Today's article is inspired by the book I'm currently reading "YOU Are a Badass" by Jen Sincero and a little  conversation I had while flying.  On page 238 Jen Sincero is talking about setting honest goals.  This is something I already do, and what this blog is all about (feeling proud of myself, tehehe).  BUT this book has got me thinking "How can I make my life absolutely amazing?  What can I do in my life to literally spring out of bed?"  I know these questions are a forever work in progress...

BUT I asked the girls I'm working with, "what is something that you could do everyday that would make your life better?"  You never know, they may give me some great ideas or insight :)  One girl said she could purge something from her house every day.  I agreed, I can also do that, and I imagine it would make my life better as well.  The other girl said she could laugh more everyday.  I don't know why, but I grabbed her and started fake laughing, hahaha, it was only a matter of seconds before we both started really laughing.  Both of these girls did give me insight and ideas!

I too, could also use a little more laughter in my life, even if its fake laughing, and tossing something each day that no longer serves me would leave me physically lighter, ready for whatever new thing may serve me better, even if that just means more space :) and less to clean!

So what is something that you can do every day that would make your life better?

I would really love to hear from you!

Organizing Cheaply

Hello!

So often I hear people say they want a beautifully organized kitchen or home, but they don't have the money.

Here is a solution to get your kitchen or anywhere else in your home beautifully organized without spending a lot of money, AND adding a lot of character!

Simply take boxes from things that you already buy anyway, and re-purpose them as storage when they are empty.  So simple!  You might say, but that's not cute.

Is your disorganized area that has no structure or a home for the little things cute?

Using boxes from what you are already buying anyway has many uses.  One it can be a place holder until you do have the time or money to go buy the matching containers that you really want.  Yay!  The other benefit from organizing with boxes first, is that you will be much more clear on what size/how many containers you do need.

And if you don't want to spend money, what you can do is find some beautiful wrapping paper, contact paper or even wall paper - decorative paper that you love - and cover all of the boxes.  Including the ones that you won't normally see.  I love this, because it's so unique and adds so much character.

Why cover the boxes you won't normally see?  Because it really raises the joy factor.  Its kind of like making a new discovery, when you open the cabinet.  I love it, and I know you will too!

Sending love,
Jessica

Help!  How do I get my child to clean their room?!

3/9/2020

Hello, Parents, Guardians, and Care Takers!

I know how frustrating the battle of trying to get your child to clean up their room can be.  Depending on how resistant the child may be you may have to break it down even more.  But I'd like to share what has worked for me.

Some awesome tools anytime a child is resistant (or even for yourself) to anything is to set a timer.  Lets say your child's room is a disaster, the bed is not made, you didn't even know they had this much toys and you can barely see the floor underneath, and that pile of clothes, well you are really not sure, but you're betting its dirty.  And you try so hard to get them to put dirty clothes in the hamper!?!

Depending on the age, how messy their room is, and their resistance, using a timer is a fantastic tool.  If they are super resistant, it may be a good idea to help them.  If you do help them, I'd make it a "race" to see who can pick up the most things, or let them be the "boss" and let them tell you what they want help with.  DO NOT do anything on your own or for them, this will just teach them that if they act helpless, or act out enough that they don't really have to do it.

If you really have no idea how long it might take, or not clear on their resistance level, I'd start at 10 minutes for ages 6-8; younger, 5 minutes, and older I'd start with 20 minutes.  Put the timer somewhere that they can see it count down, and then set a goal.  For example "Lets see if we can get this floor 100% clean before the timer goes off!"

Then when the timer goes off or you get the floor clean celebrate, give them a high five, let them pick a fun game to play with you, or even take a picture of them showing off their clean room.   The celebration part is important, you want them to recognize their own success, and be in that moment with them of feeling proud.

Then to truly improve their habits, each time they change activities make sure they clean up what they are now finished with, you can set a timer for 5 minutes, or just make sure they put it all away.  Again this depends on how big the mess is and their resistance level.  Or maybe at bed time, right before reading stories, now you/they spend 5 minutes tidying up their room.  Just make it a new daily habit, however it works best for you.

I do this for myself too, right before getting ready for bed, I spend 10 minutes tidying up my home, however it may be, filing away some papers, finishing up something I was working on earlier in the day, finishing up dishes that I didn't have a chance to finish earlier...  If I'm that on top of everything that day, I will spend those 10 minutes doing something to prepare myself for the next day.

Make this a consistent habit, and you will see an improvement; There will be less struggles, and more happiness and hugs!

With love, Jessica

Bringing the New Year's Resolution Home

1/13/2020

Happy 2020!

The New Year is a wonderful time to celebrate what we've achieved, experienced and enjoyed the year that just passed.  But its also a wonderful time to re-asses what is working and maybe what's not, or what you'd like to change.  Personally I love to have a goal or resolution for many different areas of my life, but here are some ideas for the home.

1. Bring in more plants.  I LOVE plants.  They do so much good for us, they clean the air, they help you relax, they provide color and natural beauty.  Plus sun light is something that is very healthy for all of us, so if you're plant is doing good then you probably are too.  Sean Stevenson in his book, Sleep Smarter even notes that having a plant in your bedroom can help you sleep better.  Make sure to pick a plant you love, and if you are not very good with plants, pick a succulent or bamboo, they are very hearty and easy to take care of.

2. Create a routine.  So many self help experts state that having a routine is critical for their success especially for the morning and night.  It doesn't have to be very long, it just needs to work for you.  What I do each morning is drink a full glass of water, visit the bathroom, then go for a walk.  Depending on my day ahead I may go for a shorter or longer walk.  But I love my morning walk.  Then I make breakfast when I get back, and start the day.  At night, I take 5 minutes to prepare myself for the next day, 10 minutes to tidy up, then I do a little yoga, write in my journal (will be the next point) and then read a page in my spiritual book, The Sophia Code.

3. The four questions I write every night in my journal:

What did I love about today?
What am I proud of today?
What did I learn today?
What am I thankful for today?

I think I got this from Catherine Northrup, since I started this, I have been sleeping so much better, who doesn't want a great night sleep?!?

4.  Bring in some sents.   Add something that smells nice in your home, it could be fresh flowers, a diffuser with essential oils, or essential oils diluted in a spray bottle.  Whenever I spray my jasmine blend I have in the spray bottle right now, I always smile.  and think "I love this smell."  Its amazing.

5. Commit to not letting anything in your house that you do not LOVE.  I got this practice from a book that talked about how french women live life a little more fully than american women (I forgot the title).  While I don't know if that's actually true, I took on this practice with regards to clothes, and later it evolved to be applied to everything.  I don't bring it home unless I LOVE it; this has really helped my wallet and keeping my own home more organized.  (While I love organizing, I love collecting things too, hehe.  I love establishing systems, and great with maximizing space, it does take some restraint to limit what comes home with me).

6.  Piggy backing on the fact that I love collecting things... decide on what you do love and resolve to integrate that into your home, if you have enough money to replace all of a certain item right away, great!  If not decide to replace it as you go.  This way your collections can become useful.  I collect pint glasses, photos, and I love making plant arrangements, so I collect interesting jars.  I'm pretty nostalgic, and always want to get a souvenir to remember that fun trip or to symbolize my accomplishment...A long time ago I decided my solution to this constant desire would be to only buy pint glasses from a place that would bring back a memory, and not to purchase any other kind of glass or knickknack  (At the moment I have a tiny place,  so one type of glass works fine for me).  I love having a lot of pictures up, so I print them from shutterfly in the wallet size.  I love having the tiny pictures because I can fit more in one area, plus they come in a set of 4; its really fun to share my photos with my friends & family.  And the jars.... I do have to hold back sometimes.  but I have a specific area that I save the jars until I am ready to plant an arrangement.  If they don't fit on that shelf, I don't buy it, or it gets tossed.    In the book Spark Joy by Mari Kondo, she has a wonderful example of her client that loves mushrooms, and has hundreds of photos and figurines of mushrooms.  Her client ended up covering the inside of her closet with all the mushroom stuff.  Then when she would go in her closet she felt so much love and re-charged.

Could you possibly have a lot of something with the intention of a project?  Commit time to doing that project.  Ten minutes a day, one hour a week, two hours a month... If you love something that much that you have accumulated a lot of it, you are worth it to spend time doing what you love.  Commit to it, or have a party!  I have a friend that is very crafty, and literally everything she sees she wants to save because it would be cool for an art project.  She has enough stuff for 20 of us to come over and do all kinds of art projects.  So that's what we are doing.  We girls are going to have a craft party.

7.  Leading to...  Designate a certain area in your house that makes you feel incredible, like a queen or king! Where one look at this area and you are re-charged.  This could be your closet, your bathroom, a shrine dedicated to how amazing you are... whatever.  This is amazingly powerful.  Pick an area that is only for you, and deck it out.  Personally I have a shrine dedicated to celebrating me!  If its your bathroom, splurge, get really nice towels, a plush bathroom rug, a really gorgeous mirror... (check out my article Spa Sanctuary at Home).  If its your closet, get all matching hangars you really love, line the walls with some gorgeous wallpaper, art or photos you love.  If you have enough space get a seat you love so that you can  sit down while getting ready, put up an affirmation that makes you feel amazing,  if you love your jewelry or have a hat collection, create a way to display it.  If you love mushrooms, cover your closet in mushrooms!  Or create a shrine to worship yourself.  I got this from Regena Thomas Hauer, she's an author and speaker, and created the School of Womanly Arts aka Mama Gena.  Designate this area only to celebrate you, how ever that may be.  I have a modeling picture, a few pictures of when I was very little, a goddess card that looks like me, a box that has all of my dreams and desires, crystals hanging from the top, and some heart stones.  I felt self centered making it, but its really powerful, and I love that its only for me to look at.  Your shrine may be completely different, but it must make you feel loved and incredible every-time you look at it.

8. Commit to a specific amount of time everyday that you will clean/organize.  It can be just 10 minutes a day.  I build this into my night routine, but it can be any time of day.  You would be surprised how much you can get done in 10 minutes.  If you have time do more, if you don't do less.  Making something a habit will carry over in many different ways.

If you have kids check out "Help! How can I get my kid to clean their room?"

I love using a timer, set the timer and just do it :)

9.  Commit to having one type.  What does that mean?  I left it vague because this could be applied to many different things.  I think it mostly relates to the kitchen, but it could relate to many other things like socks or containers.  Again if you have the money, replace what you have all at once.  If you don't simply decide that you will only buy  "that specific thing" and slowly replace as you go.  For example the plastic tupperware I love the most is the round Ziploc containers, because they stack, and the lids are all exactly the same size weather you buy the small size or the large size and they are stack-able, yay for space saving!  Or the jars I use in my house are all exactly the same, with some different sizes.  I made this decision intentionally.  I like the diamond pattern, it makes things "sparkly," I like clear containers because it shows what is inside so that I don't need labels yet there is consistency, they are stack-able (maximizing space) and I use them as a smaller glass when I don't feel like  pint glass.  So look at what you have going on, and establish what you like best or have more of.  The easiest example is: do you have more square or round tupperware?  Commit to having only one shape, so that you can stack it easier, if you have a ton of jars, and want to save money, or like the style replace all of your glasses so that you only use jars to drink out of, if space is not an issue, this one may not be applicable to you.

10.  Look at your habits in the home.  Here are some questions to ask yourself:
Where does mess tend to accumulate?

What do you have a lot of? And why?  If you have a lot of something is it because you really like that thing?  Or is it because you get it for free?

If your house is not how you want it to be, what exactly is it that you want to change?  How do you want it to feel when you walk in the door, or finish everything, and sit down to relax?

What is the obstacle to having your home the way you want it to be?  Are you too busy?  Is there some emotional stuff, that maybe makes cleaning a heavy chore?  Maybe having a lot of things makes you feel like you are better off financially?  A big obstacle for me used to be saving up for my "someday house"  I have fantasized about my "someday house" for so long, and have been accumulating, art, tables, and glasses.  Eventually I had to bite the bullet, and accept that at this moment I am not in that house yet, one day I will get there, and when I do then I can fill my cabinets with meaningful glasses and and cover my walls with art that I have collected from my travels around the world, but until I am in that place I am not allowed to "save up" for this future home.  Creating "rules" is what really works for me.

Once you establish why things are the way they are, and how you would like them to be different, then you can establish a game plan.  It is much more achievable than you think.

11.  Toss one thing every month, something, anything; just make sure you throw away or donate one thing a month.  This is so small and so simple, its very easy keep this habit. I usually toss something during my cycle.  My body is is getting rid of something, and so I do too.  Or maybe you enjoy pay day and usually end up getting a little something?  Be sure to toss one item the day before you get paid.  I love this habit, it keeps my life in general up to date in a very easy way.  Clients and friends have told me they really like this practice too!

12. Add Art to your life!  Add art that moves you or photos that bring a lot of joy to look at and remember.  You can do this in so many ways, and its probably the easiest way to add more color to your home.  You could create a gallery wall of what you already have, or create a new collection of images.  Or maybe just hang one large piece of art.  I love art.  If you already have art you love, that will be easy, find a spot it will look great, and voila!  Save up for when you do find that piece of art that moves your soul, or create your own!

13.  Maximize the highs and the lows.  Take advantage of the low spots like underneath your bed and couch, and high spots like above closets and cabinets.  Very often I see these spaces not being used. This is valuable real estate in our homes, if space is a challenge!  For underneath beds and couches you can find shallow containers that slide underneath very easily for things like books, shoes, sheets or toys.  And  above closets and cabinets are perfect spots for things you don't use very often, but often enough that you don't want to put it in the storage.  How much space you have to spare will dictate what you can fit up there.  If you can push the containers back far enough then it won't matter too much what they look like, but if the containers will show, it would probably be nice to pick containers that suit your taste, or go cheap and cover boxes with the same paper so it looks uniform.  Personally I like this because its much easier to create a unique look.  You will want to make sure that if you are putting things above your head that it is in a closed container, not too heavy and secure in some way.  Many times cabinets have little lip,  maybe you put Velcro on the bottom, or secure it to eye hole hooks...

14.  Get some help.  :) Trading with a friend, or hiring a professional to give you a boost in getting your home the way you want might be the perfect solution for you.   Most of the time once you commit to getting things in order the process goes much faster that you imagined.

So how does my money and my home relate?  Often where we accumulate mess, is also where there is a leak in our finances.  And energetically your home is where you recharge to go out and make more money.  Energetically when we LOVE our home, something happens, and we naturally attract or keep more money.  I've seen it happen many times.

None of these ideas are in any particular order, I hope 1 or all of these ideas inspire you to make your home into a sanctuary that you absolutely love and re-charges you, helping you have the best year yet!

Wishing you all an amazing 2020,
Much love Jessica

Organizing with Everyday Items

Hello!  My Organizing side would like to share some cheap and quick tips to get your home into a more fulfilling state.

I'd like to share something that I use in my home or when helping friends that want to be more organized without spending too much money.  I go to the Kitchen!  Yes, the pantry :)  I have found that using clear zip-lock bags, jars, or cute tins are a very easy, cute, and cheap solution to help you get organized immediately.  There is no need to wait until you have the time to go to the store.  You can just start right now.  Then when you do have the time or money to go buy the cute boxes and containers that you really want it will be a very quick switch.

I love zip-lock bags because they are sturdy and easy to group.  And we almost all have them in our homes.  I'll put things like extra electrical cords, for example past cell phone chargers, in one bag.  Maybe thumb tacks in another small bag, and clips in another bag.  If they all go in the same area, I'll put all of those in a larger zip-lock bag.  The other reason zip-lock bags are great is the variety of size.  They can accommodate almost anything.  And you can group things easily.  Then when things get chaotic again... I know its hard to keep things perfect all the time... that item you are looking for is easy to find.  There is no need to open up all the bags or boxes to find it!  When I am helping out a friend, this is a very fast way to organize, and I don't need to explain too much since its all visible right there.

I love jars.  Mason jars have been popular for a while, and I just love them, they bring a lot of character into any space.  Personally they remind me of my grandma canning, and being on their ranch in east Washington (state).  So there is the added benefit of a fond memory.  But with jars or tins; its easy to separate things and still have it look cute.  For example I will put pencils and pens in a jar so that I can leave it out.  If its in the bathroom, I will organize my jewelry in a shallow dish/tin/jar.  Really anything that would work better for me in a container.  For example I found a square tupperware container that fits perfectly in my top drawer.  I use q-tips a lot, so  I put my q-tips in there, now its always easy, and I love it.

Hope these clear solutions bring some ease into your home
